If the original rough opening was not perfectly plumb, the frame takes on a subtle twist over time and the glass develops stress cracks at the narrowest corner. We see it most in coastal homes where settling plus wind load works the opening. The fix is a full frame pull, re-shimming, and reinstalling the lite to a true square.
• Condensation between panes on PGT SpectraGuard radius units. SpectraGuard was marketed as energy-efficient, and it is, but the low-E coating makes seal failure easier to spot. A failed seal in a radius unit is not a do-it-yourself reglaze. The curved IGU has to be ordered to the exact radius from the original spec, and we verify that radius in three places before ordering.
• Operable semicircle window sag on PGT SGD870 sliding glass door transoms. A semicircle transom over a sliding door does not open, but the composite sash below it does. When the door track settles even slightly, the transom above starts to carry load it was never designed for, and hairline cracks appear at the base of the arc. We address the door track first, then repair the transom. Fixing only the transom means coming back in two years.
• Hurricane clip corrosion on older PGT impact shapes. Many PGT impact products from the 2000s used galvanized clips at curved frame segments. Twenty years of Miami salt air later, those clips corrode and lose clamping force. The window looks fine until a wind event, and then it flexes more than it should.
