Mr-Glass Impact Garage Doors: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Mr-Glass-compatible impact garage doors and parts throughout the Miami area, with most complete door replacements running between $2,800 and $6,400 installed depending on size, wind-load rating, and track hardware condition. We keep common Mr-Glass replacement rollers, hinges, bottom seals, and spring assemblies on our trucks, so many repair calls are handled in a single visit. What usually brings an owner to this page is a door that’s suddenly loud, uneven, or refusing to close after a storm cycle, salt air has a way of finding every weak point in a coastal garage system, and Mr-Glass doors, while well built, have specific wear points we see repeatedly in South Florida.

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Mr-Glass, but we work on their impact-rated doors every week and understand exactly how their hardware is spec’d. That matters when you need a part matched correctly the first time.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass impact garage doors come in several series, and the hardware differs between them more than most owners realize. The most common lines we service in Miami are their 5000-Series (single-layer steel with impact bracing), 7000-Series (insulated, higher wind-load rating), and the heavy-profile 9000-Series used on many newer coastal builds. Rollers, hinges, and spring diameters are not interchangeable across all three, and we’ve seen plenty of doors where a handyman installed 5000-Series rollers on a 9000-Series track and the door chewed through them in under a year.

The compatibility gotcha: Mr-Glass specs their hinge gauge differently on the 9000-Series. A 14-gauge hinge off a 5000-Series door will bolt up, but it flexes under the extra weight of an insulated impact door and eventually tears at the stile. If you’re replacing a single hinge on a 9000-Series, you need the heavier 11-gauge version. That’s the kind of detail that keeps a door running straight instead of binding.

To identify your door, look at the inside edge of the top panel. Mr-Glass stamps the series number and manufacturing date on a small metal tag near the upper right corner, usually a 2-inch by 1-inch plate with the series code and a Miami-Dade NOA number. Write that down before you call anyone for parts. It saves a second trip.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Impact Garage Doors Is Failing

  • Grinding or squealing during travel. This is almost always worn roller bearings. Coastal salt air attacks the sealed bearings on Mr-Glass nylon rollers, and once the seal gives, the bearing dries out and metal grinds on metal. It starts as a squeak and ends as a screech.
  • Door hangs unevenly or leaves a gap at one corner. The torsion spring has lost tension or is about to let go. Springs on Miami doors work hard, the constant humidity cycles shorten their lifespan compared to inland installations, and you’ll often see a 2-inch gap at the floor on one side before the spring fully fails.
  • Cable is frayed or slack on one side. This almost never happens on its own. A failing spring shifts all the load onto one cable, and that cable starts to unravel. If you see loose strands, stop using the door.
  • Bottom seal is brittle, cracked, or chunking off. Mr-Glass bottom seals take a beating from Miami sun and standing water after heavy rain. A failed seal lets in water, leaves, and every palmetto bug in the neighborhood, and it also reduces the door’s wind-driven rain rating.
  • Panels have visible denting or the door bounces when closing. Impact-rated doors can take a hit, but repeated small impacts, think bicycles, garbage cans, an overconfident teenager with a basketball, compromise the steel over time. Bouncing at the bottom of travel usually points to worn spring tension or misaligned track.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Parts pricing in Miami runs higher than inland markets because impact-rated hardware has to meet Miami-Dade wind-load certification, and that certification costs the manufacturers real money every year. Here’s what we currently see for Mr-Glass-compatible repairs:

  • Roller replacement (set of 10): $180 - $320 installed
  • Hinge replacement (per hinge): $40 - $85 installed including the correct gauge for your series
  • Torsion spring replacement (pair): $340 - $580 installed, rated for 10,000+ cycles
  • Bottom seal replacement: $120 - $230 installed
  • Complete Mr-Glass impact door (single bay): $2,800 - $4,900 installed
  • Complete Mr-Glass impact door (double bay): $4,200 - $6,400 installed

What drives the range on a full door is size, wind-load rating, and whether your existing track and spring hardware are worth keeping. We price parts and labor separately on every quote, and the number we give you is the number on the bill. No surprise line items, no change orders halfway through. Every repair carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise, and when we install a full Mr-Glass door, both warranty layers get registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway. That’s The Keystone Standard, and it means if something’s wrong, there’s no paperwork fight. We make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things an owner can safely check. Wipe down the track, listen for where the noise is coming from, and look at the bottom seal. Those are observations, not repairs. What you should not do is touch the torsion spring. A Mr-Glass impact door carries more spring tension than a standard residential door, and a cable or spring under that much load can cause serious injury if it lets go while you’re working on it. We’ve seen the aftermath of DIY spring work, and it’s never worth the money saved.

Rollers and hinges are technically replaceable by a homeowner, but on Mr-Glass doors the difference between the right part and a close-enough part is the difference between a door that runs quiet for years and one that eats itself in twelve months. If you’re not certain which series you have, call (561) 956-2754 and we’ll help you identify it. The estimate is free either way.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Sliding door had been dragging for years. They quoted a repair first, said the track was shot, then priced the replacement both ways on paper. No pressure either direction. Door glides with one finger now."

CCarol M.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
