CWS Window Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock CWS-compatible window hardware and install replacement parts across Miami, with most sash, roller, and latch work running $180-$420 installed and finished the same visit. The typical call comes from an owner who has a CWS window that won’t close tight, a sash that drags when opened, or a latch that no longer catches, and they want a straight answer on whether the part can be matched or the whole window needs to go. More often than not, the window stays and the part gets replaced, which is faster and a good deal less expensive than most people expect.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS manufactured several vinyl and aluminum window lines over the years, including single-hung, horizontal roller, and casement units common in Miami condos and single-family homes built from the late 1990s through the 2010s. The part that fits one CWS line often will not fit another, and we have seen enough mismatched aftermarket rollers and latches to know that guessing at the hardware is how a simple repair turns into a damaged sash track or a window that binds after one season. The single most useful thing an owner can do is check the inside edge of the sash or the frame for a small etched label or sticker with a model or series code. If that label is gone, we match by measuring the roller width, the track profile, and the mounting hole spacing on site.

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent installer and repair shop. We are not affiliated with CWS, and we say that plainly because it matters when someone calls expecting a manufacturer’s warranty call center. What we do hold ourselves to is matching the correct OEM or proven aftermarket part to the window in front of us, quoting it in writing before any work begins, and standing behind the install through our 90-Day Done Right Promise. For CWS units where the original hardware was discontinued, we source quality equivalents built to the same track and load spec, and we tell you which one we are quoting and why.

Signs Your CWS Window Installation Is Failing

  • The sash drags or grinds when you open it. This is usually a worn roller or a roller that has flattened from years of weight and humidity. In Miami, the salt air accelerates corrosion on steel roller bearings, and once the bearing seizes, the roller stops rolling and starts scraping the track.
  • The window will not stay up on its own. On single-hung CWS units, this points to a failed block-and-tackle or spiral balance. South Florida’s heat breaks down the internal lubricant faster than the manufacturer’s average lifespan suggests, and a balance that gives out at year twelve is not unusual here.
  • The latch does not catch or the window won’t lock. Most often the keeper is misaligned from frame movement, or the latch hook has worn down. A window that cannot be locked is a security issue and, in an impact-rated building, a code concern.
  • Water stains or soft paint on the interior sill after heavy rain. This can point to a failed weep system or a worn weatherstrip that is letting wind-driven rain past the sash. Miami gets afternoon downpours hard enough to find every gap in a tired window.
  • The window is out of square and the corner joints are separating. On welded vinyl CWS frames, a separating corner means the frame itself is compromised, and that is the point where replacement becomes the honest recommendation instead of another repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed CWS window part replacement in Miami generally runs from $180 to $420 depending on which part failed and how hard the sash is to remove and re-hang cleanly. Simple roller swaps on a ground-floor window sit at the low end. A full balance and pivot-bar replacement on a second-story unit sits at the high end, and the difference is mostly labor and ladder time. We quote the part and the labor as separate line items so you can see exactly what each costs, the way Dale Kessler has written estimates for over 42 years in the trade.

Every replacement includes the correct part matched to the window, adjustment of the sash so it glides true and locks cleanly, and cleanup of the work area before we leave. The work is covered by our written 90-Day Done Right Promise, and if anything about the repair does not hold up, we come back and make it right with no paperwork fight.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check the model label, photograph the failed hardware from a few angles, and note whether the problem is on the left or right side of the window before you call. Those three details save a second trip. What we do not recommend is prying out the sash on a CWS single-hung without the right release tool, because the balance and pivot bar are under tension and a slipped tool can damage the track or the frame corner. Roller replacement looks simple, but the wrong roller width chews up the track, and now a small job has grown. If the window is above the first floor or the frame shows signs of water damage at the corners, the safe and honest move is a trained technician with the part on the truck. Call (561) 956-2754 and tell us what the window is doing. We will give you a straight price before we schedule the work.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★

"Sliding door had been dragging for years. They quoted a repair first, said the track was shot, then priced the replacement both ways on paper. No pressure either direction. Door glides with one finger now."

CCarol M.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
